Following off from the previous blog post, again we have moved on and developed from that check in. We have done a pre pitch prior to the actual pitch which is taking place tomorrow at Its Nice That's office space in Haggerston. This will be a good experience for us as creatives going into the industry in a year or so time. Actually going to a real life office space will give us another experience of what its like pitching to real clients as apposed to pitching in front of our tutors.
Yesterday proved to be very very beneficial to us as a group as we pitched to our course leader and also to Steve Stacey. The pitch went very well in terms of design and purpose. The bits we got feedback from was generally nitty gritty bits nothing overly complicated. We got caught up on the allignment of certain bits of the presentation. Steve Stacey commented on ours how we are all design led with our proposal, therefore it is crucial that we have everything perfect, as one little small niggle can throw off the attention of our clients.
The second main bit of feedback we acted on was to do with our overall amount of text within the deck. The beginning of the presentation had something like 6 slides before the client would have been welcomed with any visuals etc. Derek was right in pointing this out as when I was actually pitching, I did feel in my head like I shouldn't have to be boring the client with this much text. Also our concepts attitude etc involves Short and Sweet. Therefore it was crucial we took the majority of the text out to amend this.
Thirdly our general feedback on our design of the concept was all positive and they were very impressed with the way it was looking, but Derek picked up on how the pipeline design and the search bar could be merged just that little bit more. So yesterday as a team we sketched out our refix of the design animation, whilst we also designed up a new version on screen.
Finally Derek asked us why we have chosen pipeline, what it means etc. So we had to go away and think what does it connote. Below are the reasonings behind pipeline.
We chose the pipeline concept because of how the conference is all about showcasing the different ways into the industry, and a pipelines are all about how it flows and which direction it goes in
Pipes come in all shapes and sizes, can be a long pipeline or a short one. We want to use this concept to connote the many ways young people can enter the industry
Worked well with our creative direction of shapes and forms
Pipelines are all about direction
We are still thinking of a definitive statement to say why we chose pipeline.
The next thing for us to do is pitch to Its Nice That tomorrow 10am..
