Thursday 1st February was the big day where each team has their pitch over at It's Nice Thats office space in Haggerston.
The night leading up to pitch day was a long one, making last minute changes, going through bit by bit and adjusting it perfectly, as we were told to make sure everything was super slick as the goal for our pitch was for it to be a graphic design led direction. Attention to detail was key.
Our pitch time was at 10am the first one of the day, so the pressure was on us as a team to set the standard throughout. We decided to meet prior to the pitch as a team to run over the presentation thoroughly. Going through it honestly about twenty times, we each decided what part of the deck to take responsibility for. I kicked off the pitch by introducing our concept being the Pipeline idea. We chose the shape and form of a pipeline to display the range of directions into the industry etc. It was a playful shape as a logotype as well. I then went through our human version we created of what the brief was asking us to do which is below
"To invite young people to come and see how diverse and powerful the creative industry is. Also to help young people make the right decisions about their future career"
Following on from this I built on this taking them through our insight in which we then built our idea on. Ollie then followed up explaining the Instagram posts and other social media content we created then Harry finished off by taking Will and Derek through the creative direction and the film ideas.
Overall the pitch went extremely well in our eyes. It was fluid and we each spoke clearly and to the point. The feedback we received at the end of the pitch was one question and that was, if our idea was chosen, what parts would we need to build upon. We answered this in saying probably the social media content would need fluffing up a bit.
The official feedback we received from Will was extremely positive. There was nothing negative to be said. He commented on how professional, clear, well researched and sophisticated our overall pitch was. All of which we were very happy in hearing. It makes everything worth the while when everything falls together like such.
The next bits for us to do now is to crack on with the film we have been set to do. Friday the 9th we will be travelling down to Brighton to film an interview with Hamish Makgill who is the owner of Studio Makgill, A boutique studio based in the heart of the lanes. This interview we hope will be the meat of our film we are putting together showcasing hamish's way into the industry and also any advice he has for young creativs coming into the industry.
