Overall when we thought about our difficulties and problems as a group we had to really think hard. As we all said there hasn’t been many bad things happen to us. We all work very well together having that balance of friendship and work is key for our group.
The first difficulty we had was actually when we came round to booking the equipment out from CLR. We had difficulty on the website when selecting our lights, slider and other pieces of equipment. It would not let us select a date. We all had forgotten it was reading week the following week hence why it would not let us book anything out. It was coming up to two days before the shoot and we still hadn’t heard back from CLR. The stress was growing on us, as we had organised this shoot with the owner of a very high end studio. Our worst nightmare would be to turn up on the day, set the complete wrong impression by not having sufficient equipment and looking like clowns. So we thought of a way round this, we asked Derek for him to email and go down to CLR to gain special permission for us to take the equipment out in time for the shoot.
The second problem which we had was that on the day of the shoot. We had tested all of the equipment prior to the interview in the car on the journey down to Brighton. As we were setting up in the studio to film the interview, the mic decided to not work at all. This added to all of our nerves on the day but we got around this problem by strategically placing an iPhone set of headphones out of the collar of Hamish (Studio Makgill Owner). We pulled it off luckily but it was just one of those things..
Risk assessments was the third difficulty we had. We had planned to rent lights out for our interview. Little did we know how nitty and precise the risk assessment department are…. In the end after getting ours rejected numerous times, we decided to forget about it and hope for good light. On the day we were so lucky with the spot we chose to film, the natural light coming in was perfect and after a thorough grade, We did not even need the lights after all.
On the way home from the interview after we were all so relieved to have it done with, as we were driving home out of Brighton, We had a small car crash during peak rush hour.
Finally a small problem we discussed was that the design work load was unbalanced. But we all said how this was not a major issue as we needed everything to be consistent. Where as if we had spread it all out and each done different things it would not all look consistent.
To conclude we seemed to have overcome our problems in each different way. Also we did not let our problems disrupt our ability to create a solid concept.
