This project has made me understand new things about this industry, it has reminded me of this industry and the potential which is out there. It is always super inspiring when there are Lates or conferences such as Untitled put together to showcase the creative industry. I always personally come away from them feeling full of thoughts, energy and hunger to go and smash my next project. Especially when the speakers make points which have at some point crossed my mind.
For example when Mills did his keynote at the end of the conference. He mentioned how vital it is to anyone within the industry to always have a passion for something else. Mill’s for instance was running. This was very relatable to myself as Strength Training is my side hustle/passion. It instantly gave me confidence in what I do and how I work. Having that other passion a side from design is crucial as you need that time away to refresh and recuperate.
This project has reminded me that this industry is an ever changing and free forming industry. No two day is the same, there is always new people, trends and more coming in. This certainly adds a lot of excitement to what we do and our industry.
It has highlighted that this industry is a very people focused industry. Talking to people is something you are going to have to do everyday, if you like it or not. I think this point relates back to me as I am a people person and enjoy talking to people.
This project has taught me to not be scared of anything. This could be from when we pitched in front of Will Hudson, where we were all very very nervous but once we were in there, we smashed it! To not be scared with designs and testing.
The fact that we are the future of this industry has also made me understand how important it is for us to push ourselves further to increase our chances of creating amazing work. Also just setting that bar high for the next wave of creatives.
Finally it has made me understand how intricate and interesting this industry is. It has highlighted how powerful the creative industry is in terms to young people. The speakers at Untitled such as Akwasi, Dem and Ellen. Not to mention the rave late Work it where Dines spoke and these four were the ones which really made me realise it is a special industry.
